With a little distance, we're falling apart.
Nothing to hold us together, but our thoughts and words.
They are not as strong as habits, my habit to find comfort within, not
to reach out. Your habit to magnify problems, not ignore them.

No Assumptions

Look at yourself in the mirror, instead of assuming what you will find.
You are not the devil from your worst nightmares,
you are not the disgusting creature you imagine in your most indulgent moments.
Even then you still have some light in your eyes, keeping you human.

waiting

An important object of spiritual practice seems to be staying nice and positive while things are shitty. I view this from a karmic - or the more cooler Pali kammic - view point, as being about not being tempted to sow more bad seeds, because of a present bad harvest. I have been feeling sick and very crappy for a few days now, and find how far back I am in this respect - deteriorating up to cutting in line for the nurse in front of a woman with a crying baby (well it was my turn, but the nurse seemed to think the baby crying gives the mom a right to be first).
But like everything it is just practice and later when I was in line to by a chocolate croissant,
there were no babies in front of me.
Of course, it should not be just repression - but true positivity - in case of repression maybe it is better to yell at old people cutting in line for the doctor.

Silent song you made.
Silent prayer to fade.
Silent time you prayed.

No more songs to sing,
No more time to think,
No more thoughts to face..

Last time to be left behind,
Last mind to carry through time..

Hmm...

No more lies to tell,
No more thoughts to make,
No more emptiness,
No more pain, only rest.

Now only the wise stand,
only warmth, only rest.

Unshakable Faith

If you're looking for some inspiration from someone who stands behind his words and doesn't back down, maybe the pope can help you. Responding to critcism about his remarks that `condom use was not the answer to fighting AIDS on the continent (Africa)' he says `On the contrary, it increases the problem'. I did not see a video of this, but I'm sure his long years of training enabled him to keep a straight face while saying this.

Observation

To observe something you have to be outside of it. To see what your whole house looks
like you need to step outside.
So telling your mind to observe something can be a way to `trick it' to get outside
of that something.
In particular, to observe suffering you have to get yourself outside of it.
To observe impermanence, you have to get yourself outside of the field of things
that are conditioned and fluctuating, getting closer what is absolute and not relative.

Something

Something inside arises and says we can't waste anymore time.

It says I can't waste anymore time, I can't let this flesh decay

before the spirit inside it has learned to fly.

Something inside is overpowered by the pain of the past,

by lust for the dreams of the future.

It says I just want to sleep, I just want to go numb.

Something inside is inspired by the fact that lust and pain

did not kill it, and says again `I must learn to fly'.

Something inside is growing learning forgetting

walking to the light, falling to the ground,

will it learn to fly in time?

Bhuddist Optimism

Bhuddist: `Everything in the universe of mind and matter is suffering.'

Other guy: `Oh, come on. There must be something you think is good about the universe.'

Bhuddist: `You're right, there sure is!'

Other guy: `What's that?'

Bhuddist: `There is a way out of it!'

Choices

Maybe we have made all our choices before being born, and are here only to understand, after a lifetime of fighting against them, why it was a good idea to make them.
